jack had his 2 year old check up today!
he did sooooooo good! i could not have been more proud of him! really! he was wonderful in the waiting room. he sat in his chair and ate goldfish. he said hey to everybody in the room. one family was all reading magazines and i could tell jack wanted to do the same so i got out one of his books and he sat so proud and read it.
he stood on the scale so still and laid on the table like a perfect angel for them to measure him. they had to prick his finger to test his blood to make sure all his levels were fine. that part was a little tough because the nurse had to fill up a tube and he wanted to wiggle and he really wanted to watch, but couldn't see because her hands were in the way. i would say that he did fine though.
when the doctor came in, she asked a bunch of questions and i felt like from her questions that jack is doing wonderfully! (not to brag)
some of the questions that she asked (that i can remember) were:
Q: does he use a spoon and fork? A: oh yeah!
Q: does he scribble with a crayon? A: yes and he focuses on one area in the picture
Q: does he know his colors? A: yes and for a while now
Q: does he know his shapes? A: yes and he can even draw a circle (the doctor said that that is a 3 year old skill!!)
Q: how is his speech? A: getting a ton better...he says mostly one word at a time, but is starting to say more and more 2 word sentences and some 3 word sentences (she said that is great)
Q: can you understand everything he is saying A: yes...i'm not sure if other people can, but i definitely can (she said that is great)
she gave me ideas about how to get rid of the pacie and how to discipline (which i hope will work)
here are his stats:
weight: 26 pounds (25th percentile)
height: 36 inches (80th percentile)
head: 19 1/2 inches
she said he looks great and not to be concerned about his weight because he is on the curve. his bloodwork came back great!! she said that a lot of 2 year olds are anemic and he is not!! yay!
he got 2 shots today. he did soooooo good! he laid completely still and didn't cry! wow! he just said "hurts!" it was so funny! i was seriously proud!
i got a flu shot too and i was such a big girl! just shed 1 tear! (just kidding)
