more!

jack will be 13 months old tomorrow!! he is doing a lot these days...
* jack signed "more" the other day! johnny and i sign more every now and then but we are not very consistant with it. we do it at dinner when we ask him if he wants "more" cheerios or "more" water. anyway, i was playing with him the other day and i asked him if he wanted "more"and he did the sign!! i was so proud! he surprises me when he does new things. i didn't know he was even really listening to us.

* jack also knows where his belly button is now. when i say "where is your belly button?" he points to his tummy or that general region of his body!

* jack says "doo" for shoe

* he knows how to ask for a kiss and give me kisses (thanks to sarah). when i say "mmmm" he leans in for me to kiss his forehead!! and then randomly he will say "mmmm" and he will come over to me for a kiss. it has to be the sweetest thing in the whole entire world!

* he splashes in the tub like a mad man and hates getting out. he cries and kicks his legs to get back in.

* he loves books and wants me to read them over and over

* we went to the library for the first time on wednesday for a thing they call lapsit reading time. it was a lot of fun. we get to go every other week for a session and sing songs and play with puppets and read a story. he was the youngest baby there and did pretty good i think. he didn't want to sit in my lap the whole time so we stood up to listen to a story. he walked up to the lady in charge to get his name tag like all the other kids did. he walked up to get his puppet and his bean bags too. big boy!!

* he has learned how to climb on the ottoman and the coffee table (which scares me to death). i told him "no" very sternly and he hasn't done it since....hopefully he won't do it again. he is so much like johnny was when he was little...climbs on everything!

* he loves yo gabba gabba and watches it every day.

* he loves to dance to music

he is growing up so fast and wants to explore EVERYTHING!

sarah and kate's visit to birmingham

jack ate cheerios and noodles for the first time on november 3rd over at house and kelly's. kate was eating cheerios and cheese so with the peer pressure from my friends i let jack try some. he did great! jack has a very sensitive gag reflex. he has thrown up multiple times with solid food, but not this time. he put them in his mouth like he has been doing this all of his life. he loved the cheerios!

we went to the zoo with kate and sarah to see all the animals since we didn't get to on halloween. andrea and clara met us there and clara had the coolest toy that jack just loved! i think i know what he will be asking santa for :) it is muno from yo gabba gabba. jack didn't want to give it back

the tiger paced back and forth right in front of us...it was so cool. the kids really liked watching it.

we had so much fun with sarah and kate while they were in birmingham. sarah got her southern fix and it was fun having a friend here all the time. i was never bored and neither was jack. jack loved having a playmate here all the time and trying to hug her which he just ends up tackling her!! we hope they come back to visit again :)

halloween 2009

we had a blast on halloween this year. sarah and kate flew in on halloween to stay with us for a week. we carved our pumpkin during the day and that night we went to boo at the zoo with sarah, kate, and grandmol. we had so much fun! we rode the train, carousel, went to the petting zoo, went trick or treating, and saw lots of cool costumes.

we had so much fun at the hanson concert last night. johnny was a trooper and i think he had fun watching me go crazy! they played at workplay which was awesome because the room was small so no matter where you were you were close! my legs and back hurt though because you had to stand up the whole time. i couldn't take a ton of pictures because the security guard asked me to not take anymore (you weren't supposed to take any)!

before the concert this guy next to us asked johnny if he was going to sing along and johnny said heck yeah man! but joking! and the guy laughed, but the guy sand along with EVERY song and new more words than me...which says a lot! it was funny!!

after the show zac walked right by us!!! it was great. he was so close...if i had my camera out i would have taken a picture. oh well. on the way home johnny told me that zac brushed up against his arm when he walked by!!!!! oh my goodness...if that were me i would have freaked. i wanted to go take pictures by their tour bus but we had to get home to jack.

nicolette's visit

nicolette came to visit us this past weekend. we had a lot of fun catching up with her and letting her see how much jack has changed since we moved.

A year ago today at 4:14 pm jack was born. He weighed 8 pounds 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. I went to the hospital at 7:00 am to start all the paperwork to be induced. They started the pitocin at 8:00 am and I started having contractions but didn’t know it. I thought they were the Braxton hicks that I had been feeling a few weeks prior to labor. At 3 cm I decided that I wanted to go ahead and get my epideral before I started to feel the pain! At some point (not quite sure what time it was) I went from 4 cm to 9 ½ cm in 50 minutes (thanks to the purple jolly ranchers that my cousin amy told me to eat). So I began to push…still not feeling a thing!! Legs felt like a foreign object! I pushed for about an hour with my nurse and then my doctor came in to deliver precious jack! I pushed a few times with dr. klienpeter and then he had to use the vacuum to help get jack out. It was scary, but I knew it had to be done and at 4:14 our bundle of joy came into the world!! When jack was born I instantly fell in love. I began to cry and wanted to sooth him, kiss him, and hug him. He was the most precious baby with a head full of dark hair. He had to smallest fingers that I loved to have wrap around my finger.

The moment he was born changed our life in the best way possible. He has been such a joy this past year. I can’t believe that I am so lucky to spend everyday with him and see all the new things that he does. He has changed so much since he was born. I can remember him holding his head up for the first time, sitting by himself, crawling, and then walking. We have had a blast this past year and can’t wait for all the years to come (hopefully they will go slower than this past year).

About jack at 12 months old:
• weighs 21 pounds 11 ounces (gained 13 pounds 8 ounces since birth)
• he is 31.5 inches long (grown 10.5 inches since birth)
• said “bye bye” once to kelly
• said “ball” once at andrea’s house
• says “t” (throw) in a high pitched voice when he throws anything and everything
• knows to lift up his foot to put on socks and shoes
• still doesn’t eat “real” food
• his favorite baby food: apples and chicken, pears, and carrots with bananas
• eats 3 baby food meals a day (sometimes 2 jars at a time) and nurses 5 times
• words he knows (but doesn’t say): duck, ball, nose, shoes, pacie, alligator, monkey, hungry, hat, no, daddy, momma, pete, book, hammer, etc
• when I say “are you hungry?” he hands me his pacie and makes the “h” sound
• knows how to drink out of a sippy cup
• doesn’t crawl at all anymore
• actually listens to the word “no”
• shakes his head when he doesn’t want something
• loves pete to death
• says “dada” to mostly everything
• climbs on the couch
• ‘babbles all the time
• wants his pacie all the time
• loves to read books at night
• doesn’t nurse to sleep anymore
• holds things up to his ear like a phone and pretends to talk

he is the best baby boy in the whole world and I love him with all of my heart! He makes me smile and laugh everyday! i want him to know that we love him and always will.
