halloween party

last night we went to a halloween party in robby and andrea's neighborhood. first we had yummy taco soup at their house and then we walked down the street to the party. the kids of course had a blast. they were all set up for lots of kids. they had an inflatable jumpy house, a swing set, and the cutest playhouse! it reminded me so much of the house my dad built for me when i was little. i wish i had a picture of my old one to show.

jack wanted to hold clara's hand! too cute!

this is a better picture of jack

here's the play house

it had electricity (which my mom said mine did too!) and a window unit air conditioner!! so cool! i want my dad to build jack one but he said that might have to wait for a girl :) i think jack would enjoy one...we could make it boyish!

jack and clara making a giant mess!

jack cleaned up the balls...there was a ball pit on the other side of the jumpy house

clara going down the slide. jack never did it (which is very surprising)!

2 year old doctor's appointment

(showing off his band aid and enjoying a lolipop)

jack had his 2 year old check up today!
he did sooooooo good! i could not have been more proud of him! really! he was wonderful in the waiting room. he sat in his chair and ate goldfish. he said hey to everybody in the room. one family was all reading magazines and i could tell jack wanted to do the same so i got out one of his books and he sat so proud and read it.
he stood on the scale so still and laid on the table like a perfect angel for them to measure him. they had to prick his finger to test his blood to make sure all his levels were fine. that part was a little tough because the nurse had to fill up a tube and he wanted to wiggle and he really wanted to watch, but couldn't see because her hands were in the way. i would say that he did fine though.
when the doctor came in, she asked a bunch of questions and i felt like from her questions that jack is doing wonderfully! (not to brag)
some of the questions that she asked (that i can remember) were:
Q: does he use a spoon and fork? A: oh yeah!
Q: does he scribble with a crayon? A: yes and he focuses on one area in the picture
Q: does he know his colors? A: yes and for a while now
Q: does he know his shapes? A: yes and he can even draw a circle (the doctor said that that is a 3 year old skill!!)
Q: how is his speech? A: getting a ton better...he says mostly one word at a time, but is starting to say more and more 2 word sentences and some 3 word sentences (she said that is great)
Q: can you understand everything he is saying A: yes...i'm not sure if other people can, but i definitely can (she said that is great)

she gave me ideas about how to get rid of the pacie and how to discipline (which i hope will work)

here are his stats:
weight: 26 pounds (25th percentile)
height: 36 inches (80th percentile)
head: 19 1/2 inches

she said he looks great and not to be concerned about his weight because he is on the curve. his bloodwork came back great!! she said that a lot of 2 year olds are anemic and he is not!! yay!

he got 2 shots today. he did soooooo good! he laid completely still and didn't cry! wow! he just said "hurts!" it was so funny! i was seriously proud!

i got a flu shot too and i was such a big girl! just shed 1 tear! (just kidding)

halloween at mama and me

all the kids wore their costumes to mama and me on tuesday. they were all so cute! i should have taken pictures of each one of them. atleast i got some of jack!

now this really is like papa! my dad does all the vacuuming at their house

kindermusik

we started going to kindermusik about 8 weeks ago. i got a groupon for 50% off a 15 week session (i love groupon!) anyway, jack likes it but i can tell that he doesn't LOVE it. i don't know what it is about it that he doesn't love. from all the pictures that i took today it looks like he really has a good time there. i think that he is super duper active and we have to sit a lot and do things that he just doesn't understand. really i think it is me that doesn't enjoy it all that much. who knows. i am glad that we have been going but want to try something else next time. we might have to go back to the gymboree classes since kids gym closed. now that it is starting to get cooler out we are going to need somewhere in doors that jack can get some energy out at!!

out of the whole 8 weeks he has never sat on the blanket for reading time! i don't know why! this is actually the closest he as gotten. he usually sits on my lap, but he couldn't see so he walked closer. (but he is twirling that hair for comfort!!)

scarf time!

dancing!

clean up time!

jack loves the parachute! he likes to run under it (which makes me nervous because i am always afraid he is going to crash into another kid). we always walk in a circle with the parachute and jack will not do it alone! he makes me hold him and walk. also, sometimes the teacher lets the kids get in the middle and lay down while the parents walk around in a circle with it. jack never wants to get in (which surprises me). so i have to hold him and walk in a circle. he gets heavy!!

instruments!

how does this thing work?

amazed at the instrument the teacher is playing

this was one of jack's favorite parts about the farm. i think he liked it because it was cold water and it was really hot out. smart kid!

jack's second favorite thing...the horse swing. i think he liked it because he was sleepy and it was rocking him to sleep!

jack's third favorite part. pushing the tractors around.

i think this is another family tradition!!

jack's 2nd birthday party

we had jack's birthday party on saturday. it went great! the theme was fish and it turned out so cute! we got jack 2 goldfish for his birthday and a fish tank.
everything was orange, dark blue, and light blue. some of his friends came from mama and me. (i am so thankful for this group of mama's that have become my friends. they are wonderful). his best friend clara came and became obsessed with jack's new kitchen (i think i know what robby and andrea might have to get her for christmas). grandma came to his party.
ty, emmie, and frank made the trip down from chattanooga to be here! michele made the trip from atlanta to come to the party! my parents came from columbus! (thanks everybody for making such a long drive to come celebrate jack's birthday!).

each kid got to take home a beta fish as their favor!
