mother goose reading

going to get his name tag from ms. kat and momo (the monkey)

jack has grown so much since the first time i brought him to the library! when i tell him where we are going when we leave the house he says "momo" and does the motions for the wheels on the bus. i guess those are the 2 things that stand out in his mind from the library.
he sits with me for most of the time but some of the time i am struggling with him to stay on the mat. the kids are allowed to walk around but i think it is distracting to the kids that are staying seated. so i try my hardest to get jack to stay seated. it's also not fair for him to be walking around when the other kids are getting their turn to get their nametag from momo!! he is really good there considering his is 20 months old!

the weeks that we have library readings we are super busy...
monday: kids gym
tuesday: mama and me
wednesday: mother goose reading
thursday: stay at home day
friday: reading at the zoo

i LOVE getting to stay at home with jack! i am super duper lucky that i get to do this. i hope that i am teaching jack what he needs to know at this point in his life. he knows some of his colors by the way. he can say: yellow, purple, blue, and red. i think he knows the others but can't say them. his favorite color is brown and almost always goes for that one first.

when ms. kat gets the bubble machine out jack is the first to scream "BUBBLES!"
you can tell by his face how much he loves the bubbles. i think i need to get a bubble machine!

donuts and toys

i took jack to krispy kreme yesterday afternoon for a snack and to play at toys r us. he actually liked the donut this time. i made the mistake of getting him the chocolate frosted one with sprinkles (it's the one he picked out). it was super messy! oh well! atleast he enjoyed it!

at toys r us i made the mistake of getting jack out of the cart to play with thomas the train! needless to say, he did not want to get back in the cart! so he helped me push the cart around toys r us. it was not as relaxing as i hoped our trip to toys r us would have been. probably for the best though. i would have bought too much but since i had to chase jack around we didn't stay long!

mama and me

i joined a group at trinity called mama and me. it is great! i think you can tell by the name what it is...it is a group of mom's that meet for a casual bible study with their kids. so far so good! it is a bit overwhelming because there are a lot of moms and a lot of kids, but it is fun. i love hearing the other mom's talk. i am sure that after i go for a while that i will become close to these moms. jack really enjoys his time there too. he loves playing with the older kids and watching them. he also likes looking at all the little babies. he gets a little close to them and almost steps on them several times though!

we went to a mama and me get together sunday night. it was fun! jack had fun sliding and swimming.

"mulk, peas"

one of jack's new favorite things to do...push dadda and momma around in the chair!

i took jack to the zoo friday to go to the reading again. before the reading we went to see the cats. jack tried to feed the tiger some of his milk.

the word milk reminds me of a funny story...sunday we gave jack some oreos after lunch. of course he only ate the half with the cream! we said that it was like watching an oreo commercial because he was enjoying it so much and making yum noises! anyway, after his last bite or oreo he looked at me and said "mulk, peas" (milk, please). johnny and i laughed so hard and of course i rushed over to get his milk since this is the first time he has asked for it...and with manners!

cinnamon toast crunch

having an afternoon snack together!
we got cinnamon toast crunch at the store the other day and jack seems to really like it! he is his father's son!

helping daddy put together his chairs from ikea

having a morning snack at his new table!! (with his monkeys)

i gave jack a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch this morning with milk. he loved it!! he hardly spilled a drop!

we went to triangle park this morning. it was so nice. it's mostly shaded and i think the equipment is pretty safe for a toddler.

jack loves that they have toys there. i don't know who brings them/donated them, but i am glad they did. he loves the trucks. today he picked up all the nuts that had fallen from the trees and put them in the dump truck. oh and he can say truck!

he surprises me everyday! he can put all the shapes in this shape box by himself (i might have to turn the side that has that shape on it, but then he finds the slot by himself)

i thought this was pretty cute. i put the wonder pets in the flyboat but then he put the doggy in there. i guess they were saving him!

monday afternoon with clara

jack and i went over to see andrea and clara monday afternoon. jack and clara had fun playing in the pool and sand box. they also enjoyed writing with sidewalk chalk. andrea has taught clara to lay down so that she can trace her body (so cute!) so jack had to do it too!

they also enjoyed a snack together :)

mimi and papa's house

my mom sent me a few pictures from when jack stayed with them a few weeks ago. from the pictures i think you can see how much fun he had!!

20 months

i can't believe that jack is already 20 months old!! that means that he will be 2 in 4 months!!!!
he is doing so much these days. he is talking a lot more. he will play by himself for a while now...he still loves to pull our finger over to play with him, but also likes to play by himself. he is the best booger bear in the whole world!
he makes me so proud everyday with all the new things he is learning. i love bringing him to the store and seeing all the people that he makes smile. he is the sweetest thing in the world and i love him more and more everyday!!

about jack at 20 months:
* loves fried rice (with carrots and peas in it...this is the only way we can get him to eat veggies)
* wears a size 7 or 8 in shoes
* loves to pretend cook and eat
* sleeps through the night from 8:30-8:00 or 8:30
* takes an hour - 2 hour nap everyday at 12:30
* loves his pacie still
* likes his bunny and blanket in his crib now (he will play with the bunny to go to sleep and when he wakes up...too cute). this is the first time in about 2o months that i have put anything in the crib with him besides pacies. i want him to get used to sleeping with a blanket before i get rid or the sleep sack.
* new words: hey, baby, hole, ball, "side" (outside), pete, show, zoo, hot, mommy, jack, "si si" (sit), hot dog, mimi, papa, janie, chop, "shu" (shut), hold, juice, "scissas" (scissors), elmo, elbow, knee, "no"(nose), ear, eye, oval, etc (i know he knows more than this but i am blanking on the words right now)
* his favorite word: no
* we can ask him if he wants something and he will shake his head yes or say no
* still loves "di" (dip)...pretty much on everything he eats!
* eats a chocolate chip pancake and yogurt pretty much every morning. sometimes a cereal bar
* eats either a quesadilla, chicken noodle soup, spaghetti o's, or a grilled cheese for lunch
* for dinner he eats what we are eating some nights (he ate taco meat the other night and totally liked it...surprised me and johnny) or he will eat chicken nuggets, a hot dog, or a veggie burger. he also ate real spaghetti the other night with us and loved it (he usually eats rigatoni instead of spaghetti noodles).
* jack is super good with a fork and spoon. hardly makes a mess at all. i should have taken a picture of him the night we ate spaghetti because he hardly had any sauce on his mouth! you know how you always see pictures of kids with sauce all over them? not jack. he is so good with a fork that he hardly ever spills anything. he has excellent hand eye coordination and great fine motor skills!
* has 11 teeth and is getting his 12th

happy father's day

johnny is a seriously good daddy!! he is always there for jack and plays with him the minute he gets home from work. jack screams "dadda" right when he hears the door open!! it is so cute! i am so lucky to have johnny in my life and jack is the luckiest little boy to have such an incredible daddy!!

jack gave johnny a coffee mug with his handprint made into a tiger on it. he also gave him a "reasons why i love you" book.
i gave johnny a pair of shorts from jcrew

johnny and jack watching the world cup together

we went to oak mountain in the afternoon. it was hot but lots of fun.
we hiked to the top of the waterfall, saw the petting zoo, and saw some birds and snakes in the wildlife room.

sharing a "nana" together

goodbye michael and michelle

we went out with michael, michelle, house, and kelly saturday night to say goodbye to michael and michelle. they are moving to miami tomorrow....crazy! we had a lot of fun and ate really "good" food at chez fon fon. i put good in quotes because we all tried eachother's food and the word good was used about 20 times!! it seriously was very tasty! then we went to rogue tavern to get their bread pudding. there was a high school reunion there and it kind of made me not want to go to mine. hopefully mine won't be like theirs. the bread pudding was delicious though!

the guys played bocce ball while we waited for our food

pots and pans!

we got jack some pots and pans from ikea. he absolutely LOVES them. i can now cook without him on my hip!! he just plays and plays with them. we also got him some play food to go along with it from target. it is really cute to watch him play with the food and pans. johnny and i always say that he is going to be a really good cook/chef when he grows up!

so proud!

tough life :)

he loves putting on hats

we went to the george ward dog park last week and jack had a lot of fun seeing all different kinds of dogs. i think he had more fun playing in the dirt. he turned an empty water bowl (that had creek water in it) on his head...gross! he is such a boy!

i got jack dressed to just play in the water at the zoo friday and it was closed :(
so we just had a fun morning walking around the zoo.

this is how he wanted to wear is sunglasses :)

and we heard a book on grandma's back porch at the zoo. they do this every friday morning at 10:00. i think i will bring him every friday. they bring animals over to look at sometimes, but since the book was about an elephant we just made a craft instead.

143 million

i stole this from my friend, sarah's, friend's blog :) did that make sense?? anyway, i don't know her but i feel like i do because i read her blog. i know it sounds weird but plenty of ya'll do it!! so this is what she posted...

There are somewhere between 143 million and 210 million orphans in the world.
(based on a recent UNICEF report)

Because I'm not sure you really grasp how big those numbers are on the first read, here it is again:

143,000,000 - 210,000,000. MULTI-MILLIONS.

Those aren't just numbers. They are children.

There are a multitude of ways that you can help, and I hope to share many with you over the next few weeks and months. But today I am going to share one simple way that you can help change the life of ONE.

It's easy to get overwhelmed by the numbers and to think that if you can't help them all you might as well not do anything because it won't be enough. Let me just tell you now friend that satan would love nothing more than for you to believe that lie.

I'm asking you to do what you can.

And we can ALL do something.

My new friend, Erica, and her family are in the process of adopting a second child from Ethiopia. They are selling some ROCKIN' shirts to raise funds for the adoption.

She will begin pre-sales for the shirts on Monday, but right now she is holding a *GIVEAWAY* on her blog for one of the shirts. Go see the shirts (seriously, they are fab!), enter the giveaway, and then go back on Monday and place your order. I know you are going to want one (or 5). :)

anyway, that's what it said and i hope that you all participate in buying some shirts or entering the giveaway!

zoo!

we went to the zoo with andrea and clara and andrea's nephews, thomas and jakob. it was lots of fun, but very hot! jack loved the water this time!!

andrea and i said that we will put this picture in their slideshow at their rehearsal dinner!!

for some reason when we get to the kangaroo part at the zoo jack always wants andrea to hold him :)

i tried to get a picture of us! we tried to feed the birds the nectar water but i freaked out when one landed on my shoulder and had to leave!! so we watched jakob and thomas from behind the net :)

you can see how much fun jack and clara had in the water area...

i thought this was so cute! clara would wait for the water to hit her belly and then she would pop up and run around!
