atlanta weekend without jack

johnny and i took a trip to atlanta this past weekend...alone...without jack! it was our first time being away from him for that long. he stayed with my parents and had a blast! i was really nervous about leaving him for that long...not because i didn't think my parents could handle it...just because i didn't know how i would handle it!! when we left him he waved at us and said "bye" like nothing big was happening. so that helped me! i was glad that he was so happy at my parents house. he did great the whole weekend! he slept great and ate great and had so much fun playing with his mimi and papa! my parents did a great job keeping him on his schedule (thanks mom!)
johnny and i had so much fun sleeping in and not having to work around naptime and not having to pack up a diaper bag every time i left the hotel!! i thought that i would be calling my mom the whole weekend...like every 30 minutes, but i went hours with out talking to her. i was actually really relaxed because i knew that he was in good hands and that he was doing fine!

we went to a restaurant called anis cafe and bistro. the food was really good, but the service was terrible! i hate that we had bad service because that is what we think about when we think of that restaurant. we went a whole 45 minutes or longer without seeing our waitress! oh well! saturday we went to breakfast at the flying buscuit. we have been there before and liked it so much that we went back this trip. then we were going to go to the botanical gardens but it was so HOT that we decided to go to ikea. we spent way too much money! we had so much fun there since we didn't have a little rugrat to worry about :) i actually got a migraine there though. my migraines aren't that bad though...i just loose vision for about 30 minutes. so we got a snack and sat down on a couch for a while. then we went back to the hotel and got ready for the symphony. we went out to eat at spoon. it was super yummy! then it was off to the symphony. it was so good! it was fun getting dressed up! i was super impressed! after the symphony we went back to the hotel and got dessert at the restaurant there. sunday we went to la madeleine.
when we got home jack was still asleep. when he woke up he gave me this look like...she's here! she's really here! it was great! i missed him terribly but had a lot of fun with johnny and i know it means a lot to my parents to have alone time with jack!

now some pics...
this side table was so cool. it had a light that came on when you stepped by it...

see!

fun weekend with daddy

we had a great weekend...until jack got sick! we went to the aldrigde botanical gardens in hoover and had so much fun. they had an art show there that same day, but we weren't there to see the art...we were there to see the flowers and ducks. the hydrangeas were so pretty!

hey momma!

looking at the pretty waterfall

feeding the very demanding ducks. they swam over to us from across the pond to get our bread. they hissed too. i never knew that ducks hissed!!

i'm not gonna lie...i was a little scared of the ducks and when one came up on the land with us i grabbed jack and went running!

the sunbathing turtle

we ate on the porch saturday night

sunday morning we went to church. we have been going to trinity in homewood. i was hoping jack would just go to the nursery workers this time since he had seen them before, but no he latched onto me so tight. he cried really hard, but when we came back he was happy to see us. so he wasn't mad that we left him for a bit.

sunday afternoon we went to the mcwane center

and took jack to see his first movie!! we went to the imax and saw animalopolis. jack did sooo good! he loved the movie and watched every minute of it. it was only 45 minutes long. we were super impressed!

and he went down a tube slide for the first time!

grandma and the zoo

we went to the zoo with grandma last week. we had a lot of fun with her and the 2 kids she was babysitting, daniel and olivia. jack even said daniel while we were there. i think hearing the name daniel made him remember his uncle daniel!!

we saw both of the gorillas this time :) they are so cute to me, but they also just look so bored! maybe they like it that way.

jack got to pet the llama. i asked the zookeepers about when the llamas spit. they said that they only spit when they are upset which is when people touch their backside. so if you pet a llama pet it on the neck.

a butterfly landed on daniel. daniel and olivia were the sweetest kids. i hope jack grows up to be just as sweet!

mr. potato head exhibit

jack met a friend. his grandparents were really sweet and played with jack.

we went to the new mr. potato head exhibit at the mcwane center saturday morning. johnny was on call so i decided that i would bring jack to get out of the house, but stay indoors since it was rainy. the new exhibit is cool and jack had a lot of fun!

of course jack loved the spoons. you made a bug out of different things. the spoons and other stuff were it's legs!

we met mr. potato head. jack did not want to sit alone of course! he did touch him though :)

riding on the astronaut chair

peek a boo

he figured out to put his hands in the gloves and try to pick up stuff....the gloves were too big

we went down to the bottom floor to see the fish. we hardly ever make it down there for some reason. he enjoyed it though.

jack would probably stay here all day if i would let him, but we had to get home to eat lunch

another place jack could be all day...watching the balls drop at the entrance (it's like that game mouse trap)

the best thing that jack did at the mcwane center to me was he gave a cow a high five. it was a man dressed in a cow costume for chick fil a. jack wouldn't get down but he did give him a high five and said "hey" to him about 5 million times!!

random events of last week

jack has made his ball pit into his stuffed animals house!

jack loves "nanas" now!!

we got the flashlight out and turned off all the lights and made shadow animals!

i hope this is the only time i see jack behind bars :)

he got his legos out the other day for the first time in weeks and made this!
(with a little help from momma)

jack sorted noodles the other day! he did so great! i was super impressed. i laid out the different noodles and then handed him one and said "where does this one go?" he was confused at first but it only took him a few tries to catch on. he sorted all of them by himself and i cheered for each noodle! that is what he is doing in the picture...cheering for himself for a job well done!

5th anniversary celebration

johnny got me beautiful flowers and i got him a sloss furnace bottle opener. we are also going to redo our wood floors that we found in all the bedrooms for our "wood" present to eachother. wood is the 5th anniversary present. we are also going to atlanta on june 11th and leaving jack with my parents for the weekend.

we went to eat at bottega saturday night to celebrate 5 amazing years being married! it was sooo yummy! we had great conversation and enjoyed eachother's company without our jack jack!
we got cheese ravioli for an appetizer that had crabmeat, lemon, spring onions, corn, and tobasco on top...divine! they also serve bread with the best olive oil i have ever had!! for dinner i got a pork chop that was grilled and cooked perfectly and johnny got venison (that in my opinion was way too raw) that he seemed to enjoy. for dessert we got strawberry cake (the best cake i have ever put in my mouth). it had strawberries inside the cake, inside the icing, and a strawberry sauce on the side.
