botanical gardens...two days in a row!

we had so much fun at the botanical gardens last saturday afternoon. it felt amazing outside and jack really liked crawling on the grass. i told johnny that i wanted to go there everyday!

we had so much fun saturday that we had to come back on sunday. robby, andrea, and clara came along for a picnic!

10 months

i have been letting jack crawl around other parts of our house recently...i am slowly getting our house somewhat babyproof (although i don't ever think it will be baby proof for jack). he played with pete's leash for like 45 minutes today.

my parents gave me some toms shoes for my birthday and they came in the mail yesterday. i wore them today and they are soooo comfy! jack likes them too.

jack is 10 months old today!!
(notice the conan o brien hair that jack has. it is always like this no matter what i do to it!!)

at 10 months old he is:
* walking (not across the room but he does take like 4 or 5 steps in a row)
* still has 1 tooth
* is trying to drink out of a sippy cup
* can climb up on the couch with a lot of work (hopefully it will take him a while to master this)
* can recognize duck, monkey, light, ball, book, hat, and alligator
*takes 2 naps a day
* likes the grocery store

he changes everyday...and he amazes me everyday.

i let jack play with my phone the other day. he had a lot of fun playing with it because he never gets to. he likes to play with his hat that clara gave him!

ball, hat, duck, book, and light

these are the words that jack knows. he may not know how to say them, but he for sure knows which word i am saying. he is so stinking smart!! tonight we laid out the hat and the ball and asked him to get the hat and he did. and then i asked him to get the ball and he did. then i pulled the duck out of his toy basket while he was doing something else with his back turned. i said where is the duck? and he turned around, looked around for a few seconds and then spotted it. he crawled toward it and picked it up. later i said where is a book? and he thought about it and then crawled toward his book basket, got one, and then turned to me with it up in the air. he also knows light. when you say where is the light? he looks up and points at the light! man oh man. i love that boy way too much! i will post a video of my einstein later!!

this is a video of jack walking. it is very hard to get this on camera. he is getting pretty brave with his walking. he takes steps more often, but still likes to crawl because it is a lot faster.

on a side note: i have been working on "nose" with jack. i will point to my nose and point to his. today i said "where is momma's nose?" and he pointed to it. it may just be a fluke but he did it 3 different times this morning.
we are also working on "ball". last night i said "where is the ball?" and he crawled for the ball, picked it up and came to my lap. he always comes to my lap...because we throw it for pete. i am very impressed with how smart my baby boy is! he amazes me every day!!

my 27th birthday

we put jack's swing up the day of my party so that the babies (jack and maddie) would have something to do.

crazy hair and zoo

jack still loves the bath, but mom and dad do not...jack is way too active in the tub and wants to stand up in the tub and look turn every which a way!

i let jack play in the water fountains at the zoo the last time we were there. he had soooo much fun!

jack loves his aunt molly because she is so much fun! she makes a puppet out of a gift bag...

and drums out of tubberware! the stars were the symbols.

we met molly's boyfriend dee a few weekends ago. he is really nice and good to molly! we went to a restaurant called chez lulu. it was yummy! molly's sister carolyn came with us to eat...she is in med school at uab. we had a lot of fun and can't wait for molly and dee to come see us again :)

jack took 4 steps in a row today! i was holding pete's tennis ball in the air and saying "do you want it?" to jack (he loves to throw a ball to pete!). jack walked toward the ball! i couldn't believe my eyes. he has taken one small step every now and then but not multiple ones in a row! i said that he would be walking at 9 months and i was right!! my baby boy is growin up WAY too fast.

day in the life of pete

well...here is a day in the life of pete! he wakes up (usually later than us...he likes to sleep in) and then he eats breakfast. then he goes outside for a bit and comes back in to see what we are up to.

then he likes to play with jack and spend some time with him.

then he sleeps for a while...he likes to sleep on the couch we bought for the living room/office (or for pete). he thinks that he is the guard dog on this couch and barks at loud cars and other dogs that go by.

he likes to chew on his toys and never jack's!!

then he sleeps a bit more (this really sums up pete's day...he loves to sleep!)

he eats his dinner and then goes outside again. when we put jack to bed he likes to hide under his crib and get asked to come out with a bribe of a treat!!

pete loves for jack to throw a ball with him, he loves to go for car rides, he really likes going to the farmer's market on saturdays because he gets to smell other dogs, , he loves to sleep, he snores in his sleep, he likes milkbone treats, he likes to roll on the couch after a bath, and he loves us!

he is the BEST dog ever and i am so glad that we have him in our life :)

this is a video of jack blowing what i call a zerby but others call it a raspberry. anyway, it shows one other thing that pete loves to do...give jack kisses. it is gross but germs are good for babies, right?
