sludge

jack's favorite book right now is thomas and friends diesel 10. he wants to read that book for naptime and for bedtime. johnny and i like it too but we had to put a stop to it last night since we have read it for about 2 weeks solid. anyway, here is jack pretending that his trains are jumping over the sludge.

28 weeks

i missed my 27 week picture...oops!
so here i am at 28 weeks...in a different place. when i was 28 weeks with jack i took a picture at the beach instead of my regular place...weird!! well there is no barebelly picture because i felt weird doing that at botanical gardens.
i am still feeling good. my legs burn when we walk up a lot of stairs or up a hill! charlie still kicks around a ton! sometimes so hard that it makes me jump :) i am feeling huge and i still have 2.5 months to go!! i have had a few people comment on how big i am and when i tell them when i am due they give me a look like "how could she get any bigger!" one lady said to her friend "oh she still has 3 more months"...right in front of me she said this! yes everybody i know i am huge and that i will just get bigger, but that is just what my body does!

our staycation

johnny took monday and tuesday off and we just stayed around birmingham and did things that we don't really get to do that often. monday morning we loaded up the picnic basket and all the beach toys and went to oak mountain to play on the beach. we had a blast! jack loved the sand and the water. it felt great out!! the water was a little chilly but it was nice to put my feet in. jack didn't seem to mind that it was chilly. we stayed on the beach for 2 hours. we would have stayed longer but i was hungry...or charlie was!

so we drove to a picnic spot next to the petting farm (that was closed). jack ate all of his lunchable and grapes. johnny made pimento cheese the night before that was delicious! there was a couple of peacock's that wanted our food. jack tried to scare them away by screaming but it didn't work. so johnny ran up to them until the took off...it was funny!

tuesday morning we went to the mcwane center and saw an imax movie (born to be wild). it was about rescuing orangutan and elephants. it was by far my favorite one we have seen. it was so cute! jack got bored at some points because it was a little slow, but all of my snacks kept him busy (nothing like m&ms, gummies, granola bar, and wheat thins).
after the mcwane center we went to chez lulu for lunch...yummy!


after nap we went to botanical gardens. it felt so good outside!



we loved having daddy home and we are missing him big time today!!

decorating easter cookies

i made some cookies today while jack and johnny were in the back yard playing.

(before dinner i had to run to the store because i didn't know that you had to have vinegar to die easter eggs..anyway, while johnny was doing something in the den he noticed that jack was way too quiet and went to check on him...guess what that little booger was doing)...
after dinner jack got to decorate them. he was so cute, while he was helping me put the icing on he laughed/made a very excited humming sound the whole time. he loved it!! probably because he knew he was about to eat one of them!!

he was very serious about the sprinkles and concentrated really hard...notice the tongue :)

after all of his hard work he got to enjoy them...

he ate it so fast i swear he forgot to breath! then he reached for a second one...then he was reaching for a third, but we had to stop him because it was too close to bed time!

krispy kreme

last night we went to chick fil a and krispy kreme with andrea, robby, and clara. of course we had a blast with them! jack must have been starving because he ate the best he has in a while. he ate 3.5 chicken nuggets, his fruit, and some fries and drank all of his milk. i love when he eats well and does well at a restaurant!! after we ate we let the kids play in the playground. i wish i would have taken a picture of jack going up the stairs to the slide. it was really high. i was proud of my little climber. he was so brave and went down the slide all by himself!
there was another little boy in there too who was almost 4. jack wouldn't climb all the way up when he was in there. he does that at the chick fil a by our house too...if other kids are in there he just stays on the ground or the first 2 stairs.
after chick fil a we went to krispy kreme (as if we needed any more fried food!!) and got 2 dozen donuts (one for each family!). jack and clara really enjoyed watching how the donuts are made. they also played so well together and even had mini conversations!! they are growing up!
when clara got in the car she said that she missed jack jack and jack said "where's clara?" they are too cute!

easter craft

i read on some other blog about doing a painting with easter eggs. yesterday i decided to bust out the paints and let jack give it a shot. he did really well with it and had a lot of fun picking out the colors he wanted to use.
we did it with plastic easter eggs...next year i want to find wooden eggs and do it again so that we can have them forever. anyway, if you are going to use the plastic ones my advice would be to put something inside of them so that they weigh a bit more. it would get stuck on the paint every now and then because it just didn't weigh enough. i didn't figure that out until our last painting. oh well. it obviously still works even if you don't put anything inside.

2 and a half years old

i can't believe that my little bitty baby

is 2 1/2 today!!

in one year he has changed so much...

not just looks but personality, language, being more independent, eating a little better, and much more

he is seriously the best thing in the world! we find ourselves laughing at almost everything he says. he is so funny and smart! i just really can't believe what all he knows and how much he is talking. i wish i could video him all day to let you know what all he says all day. he falls asleep like a champ in his big boy bed and so far he stays in it all night and waits for me to get him out in the morning! he will still wake up in the middle of the night some and we will have to go in and either find a pacie or rub his back for a second. he takes a great 1.5 - 3 hour nap everyday (yay!) and he stays in his bed until i get him out. i am so proud of him and what a great little boy he has become. he is (usually) very polite and cares for others (most of the time). when johnny burps he says "you ok daddy?" so sweet! we love him with all of our heart and want him to stop growing up so fast!!

to celebrate his half birthday today i let him tell me what he wanted to do and he picked the mcwane center! so off we went to have fun with the rest of the kids in alabama!! we always pick field trip days!! (but thank goodness for the kindergarten and under areas)

things jack is really into now:
* trains, trains, and more trains!
* anything with wheels
* naming all of his cars, trucks, and trains (he makes us name them but he can remember their names)
* easter eggs (but he wants candy in all of them)
* buzz lightyear
* chasing pete and hugging pete (pete is starting to love it though...he actually asks jack to play with him now...he just barks at him until jack chases him)
* the ipad
* still has the same favorite food and is still pretty picky (but will try things every now and then...he likes grilled chicken now)

jack has really started to LOVE pete. he wants to hug him and kiss him all the time. it is really cute! pete was not so sure about jack wanting to hug him at first but he has learned to just give in. pete has actually started to ask jack to play with him. he will bark at jack until i say "jack, i think pete wants you to chase him." and jack takes off screaming and laughing. pete loves it!! it's a win win for me...pete and jack get some energy out :)

family movie night

friday night we had bad storms so we didn't want to go out to eat and we didn't want to cook in case we lost power so we ordered a pizza. we decided to have a family movie night. so we had a picnic in our den and watched toy story 3. jack had never seen it before. he sat for most of the movie and was really into it. he got scared at certain parts, but i think he enjoyed our night...and so did buzz lightyear!!

easter bunny

we took jack to see the easter bunny at the bass pro shop again this year. it is a great deal because it is free..except this year we bought the $10 package because jack did so good with the easter bunny. he was so excited about going to see him (probably because i told him that he gives him candy!).

we had to wait for the bunny to get there because we got there a little early. anyway, while i stood in line johnny and jack explored the shop. jack got to see really big fish, but his favorite thing was...

i wish i would have taken a picture of him last year with the easter bunny with our camera. we have the one picture they gave us, but i don't feel like scanning it in. he was scared to death!!
he has grown up so much in one year!!

dirt and skinned up legs

we brought one of his dumptrucks outside yesterday and he had the best time filling it with dirt and then dumping it out...

of course james the train had to come out with us (he named him james because the red train in thomas is james...one of the few names he thought of by himself)

jack is all boy!! he has skinned up legs and hands, snot dripping from his nose, snot across his cheek from wiping with his arm, snot on his sleeves or arms, he picks his nose (and then either wipes it on me or in his hair!), he loves dirt, and much more!

he does not like bees or bugs though. i know i did that to him. i just hope that when he gets married that he can kill the roaches and not make his wife do it ;)

charlie is the size of a hothouse cucumber (14 inches)
he weighs about a pound and 2/3
i feel him moving all the time...he is a lot like jack was in my tummy. i wonder if he will go non stop like jack does and if he will walk at 9 months like jack did??
