my walk with jack and charlie

i took the boys to botanical gardens yesterday afternoon and had sooo much fun!
it was relaxing and i feel like i got to really talk to jack. i know i talk to him all day, but that's while i am doing the dishes or making sure he doesn't squish charlie or while we are doing the laundry and such. so being outside taking a walk with him was lovely!

(my gentlemen insisted on carrying the bag)

here's some things we talked about:
* he keeps on saying that when we die we turn into the grass (it's from the lion king)...which is kind of true, but i want him to start learning about when we die we go to heaven. well you can only imagine the questions that he has. so we talked about going to heaven and God taking care of us forever...i dont know if i am saying the right things to him, but i hope i am.
* jack says that when he grows up he wants to be a daddy and a teacher
* the birds chirping
* the smell of flowers

he had lots of "why's" and "what's" to ask and i loved it. we will be taking nature walks a lot more...this age is so much fun for walks. they are slow, but that's ok...if i wear charlie in the ergo maybe i will work off the extra baby weight that i still have 8 months later!!

today we went to the mcwane center with jack's friends clara, lillian, and john whitten. in the past i have found it really hard to play with friends there because jack wants to run around and do what he wants to do. so i don't get to talk to my friends. so this morning i had a talk to with him and told him that he had to stay with his friends and mainly with momma. he did sooo good and stayed with his friends almost the whole time. i felt like i actually got to visit with melissa and andrea! i guess he is growing up! i love that he is listening to me!!

i have really been trying to talk to jack about playing independently lately. i want him to be able to play alone and use his imagination. today i told him to play by himself for a little while and to my surprise he did! so when i told him it was time to put his shoes on he said "but i am playing by myself" i was so proud that i put off putting on his shoes for a few more minutes
