callaway day 1

we went to callaway gardens last friday - tuesday to celebrate johnny's mom's 60th birthday. we had a lot of fun. it was somewhat hard with charlie only being 1 month old, but we still enjoyed ourselves. it was just nice to be away as a family and to let mary, molly, and darryl meet charlie and visit with jack. jack LOVES his cousin molly.
charlie is at the point where he can't fall asleep in his own and noise bothers him more than it did so we had to hold him a lot and rock him to sleep, but that's to be expected with a newborn, huh? we really did have a lot of fun. it was fun watching jack explore and talk to everybody. he is growing up way too fast!!

callaway day 4

we basically just woke up and started packing up, but there was some time to love on sweet charlie!

i also took a few pictures of what our boys slept in on our trip. jack did sleep in the closet. it was the perfect place for him and he thought it was neat!!

1 month

charlie is one month old! i can't believe that it has already been a month since he came into our lives! he sleeps pretty good at night. he wakes up 2 to 3 times a night and that is only to eat and then he is right back asleep. after his morning feeding he goes right back asleep. basically he eats, sleeps, and poops at this point in his life. although when he is awake he is becoming more and more alert. he smiled at me on his one month birthday....so sweet!! he loves to be rocked to sleep for naps. he seems to be a good car rider so far. he still likes to be swaddled from the chest down...no arms. he nurses every 2-3 hours.
i call him my old man because when he stretches in the morning he poots. it is too funny!!
he doesn't look like jack to us anymore. i thought he looked like my dad, but his looks have changed and now he looks like johnny to us.
we don't know how much he weighs because his dr's appt isn't until the 19th. i am dying to know how much he weighs!!

chris, sarah, kate, and benjamin's visit

chris, sarah, kate, and benjamin came to bham for a visit/interview this past weekend through wednesday. it was so nice to visit with them in person! sarah and i talk on the phone pretty much everyday, but it's not the same as it is in person because we have to get off the phone so much because of the kids needing something or just wanting our attention. not that our conversation in person didn't get interrupted but we could jump right back into it after dealing with a fight or some other kind of drama.
jack was being super bossy while they were here. he was telling kate what she could and couldn't do. in a way it was cute/funny, but in another big way it was annoying. but he was bossing her around with things we have told him he couldn't do before...things he knew were wrong. anyway, they did get along and kate wanted to come back so that means that jack didn't scare her too bad.

jack was really cute with benjamin...i can't wait until charlie is that size and jack can somewhat play with him and make him laugh!

we celebrated chris' 30th birthday the first night they were here. johnny made shrimp and grits and sarah got him this awesome cake from dreamcakes. it weighed more than charlie i am sure!

it is always sad to say goodbye to them, but atleast we know (or think we know) that they will be back down this direction soon! (we can't wait for them to live in the south again!)
