christmas events

we have been doing a few christmas things this past week.

thursday night we went to the walk through nativity at briarwood church. it was fun but very very cold!! luckily they had hot chocolate at the end to warm up. i think we should have gotten it at the beginning to try to stay warm!

johnny and i got jack a santa hat...he seems to really like it!
his christmas phrase this year is, "ho ho ho! merry bhristmas!" (he doesn't say his c's too well)

just had to put this one in too!

i love that jack is loving christmas this year!

watching merry madagascar (he loves that movie)

we got a nativity in the mail from tia and molly. it is fun for us to tell jack who is who and to listen to him tell us what he has learned. but he had to include his yo gabba gabba characters the other day :)

mimi and papa gave jack a few things for the christmas season...he got a tree that turned into santa...i forgot to take a picture of the santa, but it isn't full grown yet...it takes 72 hours. they also gave him an elf on the shelf who he named ted! he wouldn't listen to the story the other night so maybe i will try again tonight to try to get him to understand. i sure hope that he does understand because it would be nice to remind him that somebody is watching him. he is giving us fits lately (2 year old things!)
here's a few of his favorite "bad" things to do:
* wash his hands, which is a good thing, but he has figured out that he can get on top of the toilet seat and turn on the water. so hopefully now he knows (after a few time outs) that he has to ask us before he washes his hands
* play with the dvd player and dvds. he is obsessed with watching movies and opening and closing the dvd player. so a major time out the other night may have helped...he listens when i say no now
* turning on and off lights. there is a chair in the dining room that is under a lightswitch. jack gets up on the chair to turn the lights on and off. i would just move the chair but he can move other chairs to the switch. so we have tried to tell him no. that seems to work for now. i don't mind him doing it but i just don't like when he flips it on and off really fast!

he really is a good boy most of the time. he is so sweet and tells me he loves me all the time. (probably because i tell him about 100 times a day!). he gives good hugs and kisses. he is really learning to listen to us and understands when we are disappointed (most of the time).

here's a video of him playing in the "snow" that tia and molly sent to us...

jack's 2 year old pictures

we got jack's 2 year old pictures taken on october 30th by erin nolen. we had a lot of fun watching her take pictures of our sweet boy just being himself! here are a few of the pictures that she took...

juice box bunny ears

andrea showed me this genius idea! you pull up the sides at the top of the box...

and tell your little one to hold the bunny ears so that they don't squirt it all over the place! so smart!

random pic:

jack likes popcorn!

breakfast with santa

we went to eat breakfast with santa along with robby, andrea, and clara last saturday. we had so much fun! the breakfast was at the village tavern at the summit. it benefitted the bell center. it was only $15 a person and jack and clara were free. we got pancakes, eggs, bacon, coffee, and orange juice. they had tons of crafts for the kids to do and they also had a goody bag after they saw santa.
jack didn't smile when he sat on santa's lap. he didn't cry either. he wasn't scared....he was serious. he told him that he wanted cake for christmas after he sat on his lap. we will be doing this again next year!

our family at breakfast

the austin family at breakfast...this was the only one i got...sorry!

jack enjoying his orange juice

i know this looks like he is attacking clara, but he is giving her a hug. jack loves to hug clara!

our table

our family with santa (we have the printed out picture of just jack with santa....he is making pretty much the same face)

jack liked the feeling of santa's glove

after seeing santa we went to barnes and noble and let the kids play

we were tired after the busy morning!

decorating the tree

we decorated the tree last night and jack had a blast! i love decorating the tree and seeing all the ornaments that we have collected together. i loved watching jack put the ornaments on the tree. he was actually really good and careful! he was funny though because he kept putting the ornaments on the same branch so there was like 5 ornaments on the same branch :) so far he has understood that once the ornaments are on the tree you can't touch them. we'll see how long that last :)

comparing his foot to his first christmas!

putting the angel on the tree is always the last thing we do

cheese!

pete was there for all the action

the finished product!!

pajama days

he has figured out that getting on the table to play with his trains is more fun than playing on the ground :)

jack is really good at monkey in the box

jack smiles everytime the monkey pops out of the box! i even jumped one time when it came out! haha!

playing with his kitchen

putting some salt on cheese...yum :)

giving pete the cheese. jack says "mmm mmm mmm" anytime he feeds anything

jack told me about his drawing for the first time yesterday! i wrote what each thing was that he told me about. he drew a car on the right. i think it really looks like a car with 2 wheels! the the scribbles are momma, daddy, and jack. and the line is a tree. very cute and smart!
