happy father's day

johnny is a seriously good daddy!! he is always there for jack and plays with him the minute he gets home from work. jack screams "dadda" right when he hears the door open!! it is so cute! i am so lucky to have johnny in my life and jack is the luckiest little boy to have such an incredible daddy!!

jack gave johnny a coffee mug with his handprint made into a tiger on it. he also gave him a "reasons why i love you" book.
i gave johnny a pair of shorts from jcrew

johnny and jack watching the world cup together

we went to oak mountain in the afternoon. it was hot but lots of fun.
we hiked to the top of the waterfall, saw the petting zoo, and saw some birds and snakes in the wildlife room.

sharing a "nana" together

one of the many wipe outs of the day!

goodbye michael and michelle

we went out with michael, michelle, house, and kelly saturday night to say goodbye to michael and michelle. they are moving to miami tomorrow....crazy! we had a lot of fun and ate really "good" food at chez fon fon. i put good in quotes because we all tried eachother's food and the word good was used about 20 times!! it seriously was very tasty! then we went to rogue tavern to get their bread pudding. there was a high school reunion there and it kind of made me not want to go to mine. hopefully mine won't be like theirs. the bread pudding was delicious though!

the guys played bocce ball while we waited for our food

pots and pans!

we got jack some pots and pans from ikea. he absolutely LOVES them. i can now cook without him on my hip!! he just plays and plays with them. we also got him some play food to go along with it from target. it is really cute to watch him play with the food and pans. johnny and i always say that he is going to be a really good cook/chef when he grows up!

so proud!

tough life :)

he loves putting on hats

we went to the george ward dog park last week and jack had a lot of fun seeing all different kinds of dogs. i think he had more fun playing in the dirt. he turned an empty water bowl (that had creek water in it) on his head...gross! he is such a boy!

i got jack dressed to just play in the water at the zoo friday and it was closed :(
so we just had a fun morning walking around the zoo.

this is how he wanted to wear is sunglasses :)

and we heard a book on grandma's back porch at the zoo. they do this every friday morning at 10:00. i think i will bring him every friday. they bring animals over to look at sometimes, but since the book was about an elephant we just made a craft instead.

143 million

i stole this from my friend, sarah's, friend's blog :) did that make sense?? anyway, i don't know her but i feel like i do because i read her blog. i know it sounds weird but plenty of ya'll do it!! so this is what she posted...

There are somewhere between 143 million and 210 million orphans in the world.
(based on a recent UNICEF report)

Because I'm not sure you really grasp how big those numbers are on the first read, here it is again:

143,000,000 - 210,000,000. MULTI-MILLIONS.

Those aren't just numbers. They are children.

There are a multitude of ways that you can help, and I hope to share many with you over the next few weeks and months. But today I am going to share one simple way that you can help change the life of ONE.

It's easy to get overwhelmed by the numbers and to think that if you can't help them all you might as well not do anything because it won't be enough. Let me just tell you now friend that satan would love nothing more than for you to believe that lie.

I'm asking you to do what you can.

And we can ALL do something.

My new friend, Erica, and her family are in the process of adopting a second child from Ethiopia. They are selling some ROCKIN' shirts to raise funds for the adoption.

She will begin pre-sales for the shirts on Monday, but right now she is holding a *GIVEAWAY* on her blog for one of the shirts. Go see the shirts (seriously, they are fab!), enter the giveaway, and then go back on Monday and place your order. I know you are going to want one (or 5). :)

anyway, that's what it said and i hope that you all participate in buying some shirts or entering the giveaway!

zoo!

we went to the zoo with andrea and clara and andrea's nephews, thomas and jakob. it was lots of fun, but very hot! jack loved the water this time!!

andrea and i said that we will put this picture in their slideshow at their rehearsal dinner!!

for some reason when we get to the kangaroo part at the zoo jack always wants andrea to hold him :)

i tried to get a picture of us! we tried to feed the birds the nectar water but i freaked out when one landed on my shoulder and had to leave!! so we watched jakob and thomas from behind the net :)

you can see how much fun jack and clara had in the water area...

i thought this was so cute! clara would wait for the water to hit her belly and then she would pop up and run around!

atlanta weekend without jack

johnny and i took a trip to atlanta this past weekend...alone...without jack! it was our first time being away from him for that long. he stayed with my parents and had a blast! i was really nervous about leaving him for that long...not because i didn't think my parents could handle it...just because i didn't know how i would handle it!! when we left him he waved at us and said "bye" like nothing big was happening. so that helped me! i was glad that he was so happy at my parents house. he did great the whole weekend! he slept great and ate great and had so much fun playing with his mimi and papa! my parents did a great job keeping him on his schedule (thanks mom!)
johnny and i had so much fun sleeping in and not having to work around naptime and not having to pack up a diaper bag every time i left the hotel!! i thought that i would be calling my mom the whole weekend...like every 30 minutes, but i went hours with out talking to her. i was actually really relaxed because i knew that he was in good hands and that he was doing fine!

we went to a restaurant called anis cafe and bistro. the food was really good, but the service was terrible! i hate that we had bad service because that is what we think about when we think of that restaurant. we went a whole 45 minutes or longer without seeing our waitress! oh well! saturday we went to breakfast at the flying buscuit. we have been there before and liked it so much that we went back this trip. then we were going to go to the botanical gardens but it was so HOT that we decided to go to ikea. we spent way too much money! we had so much fun there since we didn't have a little rugrat to worry about :) i actually got a migraine there though. my migraines aren't that bad though...i just loose vision for about 30 minutes. so we got a snack and sat down on a couch for a while. then we went back to the hotel and got ready for the symphony. we went out to eat at spoon. it was super yummy! then it was off to the symphony. it was so good! it was fun getting dressed up! i was super impressed! after the symphony we went back to the hotel and got dessert at the restaurant there. sunday we went to la madeleine.
when we got home jack was still asleep. when he woke up he gave me this look like...she's here! she's really here! it was great! i missed him terribly but had a lot of fun with johnny and i know it means a lot to my parents to have alone time with jack!

now some pics...
this side table was so cool. it had a light that came on when you stepped by it...

see!

our straw at spoon!

fun weekend with daddy

we had a great weekend...until jack got sick! we went to the aldrigde botanical gardens in hoover and had so much fun. they had an art show there that same day, but we weren't there to see the art...we were there to see the flowers and ducks. the hydrangeas were so pretty!

hey momma!

looking at the pretty waterfall

feeding the very demanding ducks. they swam over to us from across the pond to get our bread. they hissed too. i never knew that ducks hissed!!

i'm not gonna lie...i was a little scared of the ducks and when one came up on the land with us i grabbed jack and went running!

the sunbathing turtle

we ate on the porch saturday night

sunday morning we went to church. we have been going to trinity in homewood. i was hoping jack would just go to the nursery workers this time since he had seen them before, but no he latched onto me so tight. he cried really hard, but when we came back he was happy to see us. so he wasn't mad that we left him for a bit.

sunday afternoon we went to the mcwane center

and took jack to see his first movie!! we went to the imax and saw animalopolis. jack did sooo good! he loved the movie and watched every minute of it. it was only 45 minutes long. we were super impressed!

and he went down a tube slide for the first time!
